Tiger Looks To Continue Dominance At Farmers Insurance Open

The PGA Tour will shift to a familiar spot this weekend with the Farmers Insurance Open at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California. There will be plenty of familiar faces as well in what many price per head players consider the opening day of the season, including of course the best in the world. Tiger Woods has a long list of past successes at Torrey Pines, and he has dominated this event in particular. It’s no surprise that he is listed as the outright favorite, and he could be the closest thing to a lock this weekend when it comes to breaking down the top-10.

Woods has won five times at this event in six different tournaments since 2005, skipping it altogether on three occasions, and dominating the event almost every time that he has participated in it. Perhaps even more impressive than his seven-career wins at Torrey Pines is that he has only registered three rounds over par all-time at this course, which makes him nearly a lock to be in the hunt. Woods has also had plenty of time to rest and prepare for this tournament after taking some time off and not playing last week, so he should be ready to open 2014 with an online sports betting splash.

While Tigers is as close as there is to a lock at this live betting tournament, there are a handful of other players that are capable of finishing in the top-10 and worth investing in. One of those players is Phil Mickelson, who is among the only players at this tournament with the ability to push Woods at the top of the leader board. Phil also has plenty of experience at Torrey Pines, and he loves playing in back-to-back weeks. Mickelson had an excellent third round last week as the HSBC Championships, and he is worth investing in as a potential upset pick.

A couple of other golfers to keep an eye on this weekend are Brandt Snedeker and Ben Watson, each of which has won this sportsbook reviews tournament before. Experience is the key to winning a tournament like this, and both Snedeker and Watson have proven that they can win here in the past. As far as a sleeper pick for this year’s event, be sure to keep an eye out for Canadian Graham Delaet, who is for some reason listed as a 50/1 long shot heading in to this event. Delaet made some terrific strides a year ago and he has already finished in the top-10 in two tournaments this year. Considering he finished tied for ninth at this event last season, it’s hard not to take a shot at him to at least finish in the top-10 at such amazing odds, especially considering that Tiger is getting so much respect from the bookmakers at the top.
