September baseball starts with a bang this Sunday when the New York Yankees host the Oakland Athletics in a possible American League playoff preview. The Yankees are well ahead in the AL East race, while the A’s control the second Wild Card spot at press time. TBS will have the coverage at 1:05 PM ET.

The unofficial projected starters for Sunday’s matinee are JA Happ (5.57 ERA) for New York and Mike Fiers (3.40 ERA) for Oakland. This isn’t their first merry-go-round; they met at the Coliseum on August 21, with the Athletics prevailing 6-4 as –120 favorites. Despite the loss, the Yankees are 17-9 behind Happ this year with the Under at 13-11-2, while the A’s are 18-9 (Under 15-11-1) with Fiers on the mound.

New York’s injury bug kept feasting over the weekend. OF Cameron Maybin (.858 OPS) and SS Didi Gregorius (.772 OPS) are listed as day-to-day with minor injuries, although both are expected back in the lineup soon. There are 16 other Yankees on the shelf, compared to five for Oakland – including OF Stephen Piscotty (.728 OPS), who’s out indefinitely with a sprained ankle. Piscotty hit 2-for-3 with a homer in that earlier win over the Bombers.
