After a stunning performance in the MLB All-Star game’s Home Run Derby, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will attempt to carry some momentum and swagger into the second half of the season for the Toronto Blue Jays. He’ll have a great opportunity to continue cementing his name in the MLB headlines with a strong performance in baseball Mecca – the Bronx. The Jays will play the second game of their series against the Bombers this Saturday in an afternoon tilt (1:05 PM ET).

Though Guerrero Jr. hasn’t ripped the ball off of the cover so far in 2019, hitting just eight homeruns to go along with a .741 OPS, he showed what he’s capable of on Monday night’s Home Run Derby. The 20-year-old rookie hit a record 91 homers during the competition and had fans and fellow players on their feet. The third baseman will try to bring that power into game action when he faces Canadian lefty James Paxton, who is slated to get the ball for New York on Saturday.

Toronto will counter with struggling righty, Aaron Sanchez. Sanchez has watched his ERA balloon to 6.16 this season, which is nearly double his career average. We’ll see if Sanchez and the Jays can get their season turned around post-All-Star break beginning with an important series against the Yankees.
