The Blue Jays follow up their California tournament performance by remaining on the west coast for a date with the 49ers of Long Beach. Creighton was exposed in back to back games by athletic groups in San Diego State and George Washington.

The 49ers, unfortunately, don’t possess the same sort of roster as they have in the past. While their losses have come against mostly quality competition, they have exhibited a shocking inability to score efficiently and simply lack the firepower to hang with the opposition in games like this.

Mike Caffey is a quality guard and Dan Jennings is a playmaker inside. Yet, this roster doesn’t have anyone versatile enough to deal with Doug McDermott and probably cannot keep pace on the scoreboard for this one. Creighton is not a great defensive team, but they are solid and disciplined. I don’t see Long Beach being able to do any of the things necessary to knock Creighton off, and it fully explains the 12.5 point spread.

I felt the Blue Jays deserved to be 9 point favorites, and the fact that they enter this game off of a couple brutal losses should mean for a motivated performance. Vegas understands that this really is not even a road game given that Creighton has been out there for a week at this point, and they are expecting a blowout. I can’t lay road chalk at this level and will pass, but Creighton is a group I’d love to back in certain situations in the next two months.
