The Houston Astros march into Toronto this Friday to begin a three-game series versus the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto is coming off of a surprising win over the Atlanta Braves in their previous series, where Jays’ pitchers held the NL-East leaders’ offence in check. It’ll be an even tougher task against the Astros, however, as Houston owns the fourth-best offence in the Majors with 739 runs scored on the season. In addition, the ‘Stros have won eight of their last 10 games and look to be running downhill heading into the playoffs.

It’ll be the 25-year-old rookie Trent Thornton who gets the starting call for Toronto on Friday. Like many of the Jays’ pitchers this season, Thornton has had an up-and-down season to date. He’s managed a 4-8 record through 26 starts while pitching to a 5.34 ERA. While those aren’t All-Star numbers, the righty has surrendered more than three earned runs just once over his previous five starts.

Houston will send reliable veteran Wade Miley to the mound to attempt to quiet the young bats of the Jays. Miley has a sparking 3.13 ERA through 27 starts this year, though he’s failed to make it out of the fifth inning in each of his previous four outings. Tune in to see if the Jays can continue Miley’s recent struggles, with first pitch set for 7:07 PM ET.
